This is the first international open of WER 2017. It is also the first time that WER stepped on the land of Spain. Local government paid great attention to this open. Ms.armen Crasteño, Deputy Mayor of Sevilla sent a congratulatory letter to the contest. Chairman of WER Spain Organizing Committee Victor Martin presented at the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. National TV station Canal surTV made whole contest report on it. Besides, guests from WER Croatia Organizing Committee also presented.

As the previous international opens, this time, the European Open was still based on brick robots. The contest was made of arena tasks, extended tasks and team presentation. In which the arena tasks were 4+3 tasks, which means that there were four pre-determined tasks and three additional tasks. The contents of the additional tasks will only be issued at the debugging period, which, to the largest extent, shew the contest principle of “Compete the students rather than the coaches.”

The team presentation, besides the decoration of the site, also includes the micro video themed “My Robot Partner.”Contests put their imagination into full play. Their infinite imagination, passion in robotic study and achievement were completely shown in the videos.

World Educational robot contest was launched and held by World Educational Robotics Society catering to kids and adolescents aged 4 to 18. Each year nearly 500,000 contestants from 30 countries came to attend all levels of contests.

Now that WER is becoming more and more wide-spread, more and more kids and adolescents are able to get in touch with the top-level robotic contest, its enormous educational values has been generally recognized by the whole society.
